1. Who we are

TheChessCommunity is operated by Midas Ratsma, registered at the Chamber of Commerce as Chessmastery ("we", "us").

2. What this website is right now

This website is currently an announcement page: it tells you that TheChessCommunity, a chess training platform, launches in October 2026. Nothing is for sale here yet: you cannot buy anything, create an account, or use any service through this page before launch. The only thing you can do is sign up for our newsletter.

3. Signing up for the newsletter

  1. When you sign up, you give us your email address and first name. We use them for one purpose: sending you our newsletter — updates about the launch and about TheChessCommunity.
  2. By clicking "Subscribe" you consent to receiving these emails. Signing up is free and creates no other obligation — it is not an account and not a purchase.
  3. Your email address and first name are stored in our subscriber database, which is hosted for us by Supabase. They are also added to our mailing list at Mailchimp, the service we use to send the newsletter. They are used for nothing else and are never sold or shared beyond these providers.

4. No spam, unsubscribe anytime

  1. We only send you the newsletter described above — no spam.
  2. You can unsubscribe at any moment: every newsletter email contains an unsubscribe link that stops the emails immediately, and you can also simply email us at the address in section 1. Unsubscribing is free and requires no explanation.

5. These terms

These terms cover only the announcement page and the newsletter signup. When TheChessCommunity launches, the full Terms of Service will apply to the platform and will be published on the website. Dutch law applies; if you live in another country, you always keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your own country.
